Sr. Hardware Engineer

Position Status: Regular, Full time
Work location: Mississauga, Ontario

What you’ll be doing:
As a Senior Hardware Engineer at iS5 Communications Inc. you will be responsible for hardware design, release and launch of complete product lines. You will be part of the team that creates and executes industry leading communication devices in terms of innovation, security and performance.

You will utilize your expertise in design and development of products as you work with a lean and agile team of the best hardware and software engineers in the industry.

This role reports directly to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all phases of hardware design from concept to release to manufacturing.
  • Managing consultants, dealing with PCB and board manufactures.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing electronic circuit boards.
  • System and boards level tests and characterization.
  • Managing certification and compliance activities.
  • Writing reports and design specifications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in board-level design, including schematic capture, design verification and taking responsibility for all phases of hardware design from concept to release manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Strong experience in designing complex telecom boards using the following technologies: Ethernet, Sonet, VDSL, Wireless.
  • Experience designing systems with 1G/10G Ethernet, DDR3, PCIe, USB, Bluetooth.
  • Experience designing Ethernet L2/L3 switching systems using chipsets from Broadcom or Marvell.
  • Experience designing CPU based systems using x86 or ARM based chipsets.
  • Strong experience in high-speed digital design, experience in analog design.
  • FPGA design experience.
  • Experience working with PCB layout designer and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure the design meet DFM/DFT and customer requirements.
  • Experience in product compliance testing – EMC, Safety, MIL standards.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Sr. Network QA Engineer (System Network Engineer)

Position Status: Regular, Full time

What you’ll be doing:

iS5 Communications is currently looking for a creative and experienced Network QA Engineer with a great can-do attitude and passion for network testing/ troubleshooting. The Network QA Engineer will be a part of our QA team and participating in team activities such as functional and system level test execution, regression, performance, stability, interoperability testing. Along with the iS5 QA team the candidate will be interacting with testing and development teams in multiple locations.

Responsibilities:

The role will include understanding iS5 customer requirements & product solutions, forming knowledge and opinions about system level test coverage, being a writer and/or key reviewer for system test plans & coverage, and providing technical knowledge sharing inside the company. The primary responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Design and develop test cases for network equipment.
  • Configuring QA network test environments in both L2 and L3.
  • Reviewing the test plan and making improvements and suggestions as required
  • Performing QA of new and existing products according to the test plan and generating a test report prior to product/feature/code release.
  • Investigating reported product bugs, reproducing reported issues, performing root cause analysis and communicating details to the development team for fix.
  • Testing engineering provided code fixes and validating bug resolution.
  • Collaborating with other QA team members on test cases, root cause analysis and test plan improvements
  • Collaborating with our development team on open code issues, bug fixes and feature requests/product feedback.
  • Support customer-based activities like problem investigation and presale activities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or equivalent areas with 5+ years of practical work experience.
  • Hands-on experiences performing manual QA testing in the NETWORKING industry (required).
  • Experience with network emulating and debugging tools. (iXIA, Spirent, Wireshark) (required).
  • Outstanding technical & hands-on expertise in system testing execution, system test planning, and customer issues trouble-shooting & resolution (required).
  • Experience of working on Layer2 Ethernet technologies (RSTP; LLDP, Multicast Filtering, IGMP snooping, 802.1.x, etc…) (required).
  • Experience of working on Layer3 IP technologies (IPv4/IPv6, SNMP, IPSEC, VRRP, RIP, ISIS, OSPF, BGP, EIRGP, MPLS, PBR, ACL etc…).
  • Knowledge or experience in Spirent ITest an asset
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification an asset.
  • Experience in Automation Test Development (TCL/Perl/Python) an asset.

Job Overview:

Scheduler/Material Coordinator

Position Status: Regular, Full time
Work location: Mississauga, Ontario

Responsibilities:

  • Confer with other departments to determine progress of work and completion dates
  • Revise plans as required based on analysis of actuals versus plan
  • Work with Cell Lead to ensure planning is accurate
  • Serve as point of contact between production and planning teams
  • Inform all key Production personnel of any changes to the production plan
  • Review and communicate production status reports
  • Maintain and improve execution of production assignments
  • Coordinate the flow of work and materials between departments using ERP Software.
  • Set limits on levels of manufacturing operations in the future considering sales forecasts, requirements, and availability of labour, materials, etc.
  • Plan requirements for components based upon requirements for secondary tertiary process products
  • Assist to identify and resolve all issues in normal operations and manage all communication for all schedule disruption.
  • Meet with Line Teams as required to ensure planning rates are accurate

Materials Coordinator:

  • Order raw and packaging materials ensuring that all orders are in ERP and up to date.
  • Ensure that inventory of raw and packaging material is at the optimal level at all times
  • Coordinate, book and manage delivery appointments for raw and packaging material deliveries
  • Follow-up with suppliers on status of orders
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies for materials; by verifying goods received and comparing invoices to receipt
  • Compile reports on costs and inventory levels
  • Shared responsibility for Inventory Turns performance
  • Any other duties as assigned by your leader or their designate

Position Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Planning & Logistics or related program
  • Min 3 years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment, materials and processes
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, NetSuite an asset
  • Strong excel skills required
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques and philosophies
  • Flexible with an exceptionally high ability to prioritize tasks and daily work activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions, work independently and deal with multiple issues at any one time.
  • Organized, able to handle pressure and can react quickly to changes and demonstrates ability to “think-on-your-feet”.
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)

Manufacturing Assembler

Position Status: Permanent

Work location: Mississauga, Ontario

Reporting to: Director of Operations

Job Responsibilities:

  • Preform both electronic and mechanical assembly of various ethernet switch products;
  • Perform inspection of assembled boards;
  • Responsible for kitting material as per work orders;
  • Solder through hole and surface mount components on printed circuit boards;
  • Debug faulty ethernet switches (involving disassembly and reassembly);
  • Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct;
  • Other duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Position Requirements:

  • College diploma in Electronics or similar specialized training;
  • Basic knowledge of Ethernet networks (an asset);
  • Soldering/de-soldering skills is required;
  • Able to accurately follow work instruction both verbal and written;
  • ESD knowledge (an asset);
  • Must be able to work shift of 8:00am to 4:30pm;
  • Pays attention to details with strong multitasking skills;
  • Must have manual dexterity sufficient to type, grasp, grip, push and pull soldering want type tools as needed;
  • Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds (25lbs) of networking equipment and boxes to chest level;
  • Basic computer skills are required, familiarity with Microsoft Office (an asset);
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken;
