Sr. Software Engineer

Position Status: Regular, Full time
Work location: Mississauga, Ontario

What you’ll be doing:

As a member for the Sr. Software Engineer at iS5 Communications Inc. you will be responsible for the you will design, release and launch communication products which are aligned with industry standards and project product profile.

This role reports directly to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for embedded Linux software architecture and implementation.
  • Developing C/C++ software according to the company SDLC process.
  • Responsible for unit tests, system integration, product validation and certification.
  • Managing outside developers and consultants.
  • Managing software release and bug tracking system.
  • Writing design documentation and status reports.

Requirements:

  • 10 + years of experience in developing real-time embedded and/or application software on Linux based platform.
  • Solid understanding of data and telecommunication networks and protocols.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet switching, routing and application level protocols- RSTP, TCP/IP, HTTP, NAT, IGMP, QoS, VLAN, IPSEC, TLS etc.
  • Experience with UNIX/POSIX programming interface.
  • Experience developing any of the following is a plus: Firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, SDN.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic protocols & standards.
  • Experience in developing security, encryption and tunneling protocols.
  • Experience with embedded Linux, Hypervisor, Deep Packet Inspection, DPDK is plus
  • Experience developing in VM or container platforms and technologies (an asset).
  • Knowledge of SCADA communications protocols like DNP, Modbus etc. (an asset).

Sr. Embedded Software Engineer

  • Experience writing device drivers for L2/L3 switches, GE/10GE PHYs, CPU cores, DDR-SDRAM, FPGA/CPLD, SerDes and Framers.
  • Strong experience with low level device drivers (I2C, SPI Master/Slave, Serial/HCI, GPIO, USB, SD, NAND, NOR, RAM).
  • Strong embedded debug skills on target hardware.
  • Experience with software development tools (configuration management, design, emulation, debugging, compliers, test etc.).
  • Experience with performance tuning of interrupts, DMA, memory management, scheduling, etc.
  • Experience with board bring-up and debugging.
  • Understanding of hardware architecture and components.
  • Able to read schematic diagrams, experience with debug and test tools such as Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Multi-meter, JTAG debugger.

Sr. Hardware Engineer

Position Status: Regular, Full time

What you’ll be doing:
As a Senior Hardware Engineer at iS5 Communications Inc. you will be responsible for hardware design, release and launch of complete product lines. You will be part of the team that creates and executes industry leading communication devices in terms of innovation, security and performance.

You will utilize your expertise in design and development of products as you work with a lean and agile team of the best hardware and software engineers in the industry.

This role reports directly to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all phases of hardware design from concept to release to manufacturing.
  • Managing consultants, dealing with PCB and board manufactures.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing electronic circuit boards.
  • System and boards level tests and characterization.
  • Managing certification and compliance activities.
  • Writing reports and design specifications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in board-level design, including schematic capture, design verification and taking responsibility for all phases of hardware design from concept to release manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Strong experience in designing complex telecom boards using the following technologies: Ethernet, Sonet, VDSL, Wireless.
  • Experience designing systems with 1G/10G Ethernet, DDR3, PCIe, USB, Bluetooth.
  • Experience designing Ethernet L2/L3 switching systems using chipsets from Broadcom or Marvell.
  • Experience designing CPU based systems using x86 or ARM based chipsets.
  • Strong experience in high-speed digital design, experience in analog design.
  • FPGA design experience.
  • Experience working with PCB layout designer and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure the design meet DFM/DFT and customer requirements.
  • Experience in product compliance testing – EMC, Safety, MIL standards.

QA Automation Developer

Position Status: Regular, Full Time
Work Location: Mississauga, ON

What you’ll be doing:
iS5 Communications is currently looking for a creative and experienced Automation Test Developer with a great can-do attitude and passion for development automatic testing solution for network equipment. The QA Automation Developer will be a part of our QA team and will lead the QA automation development activities such as development and maintenance of automation framework, design and develop automatic test cases for functional, system level test execution and regression testing. Along with the iS5 QA team the candidate will be interacting with testing and development teams in multiple locations. The role will include understanding iS5 customer requirements & product solutions, forming knowledge and opinions about system level test coverage, being a writer and/or a key reviewer for system test plans & coverage, and providing technical knowledge sharing inside the company.

This role reports to our Quality Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and developing testing automation framework/tools that can support component-level testing automation for new functionalities and regression testing suite for system-level end to end services and Web UI for network equipment and applications.
  • Investigate and recommend innovative automated test approaches and processes for existing and coming new software and hardware products that in QA’s testing scope.
  • Continuously improve automated testing methodologies enable testers to maximize test coverage of the full depth of enterprise products.
  • Review functional and technical documentation to identify requirements for the new function implementation in order to supporting new features test automation
  • Execute automated testing scripts and generate testing result report
  • Based on automated testing result report, work with QA test lead and Developers to ensure all functionalities have been tested, defects have been identified and documented, impacts have been assessed, and resolutions provided.

Position Requirements:

  • Degree in computer engineering or equivalent areas
  • 5 plus year of strong programming skills in Python and Perl
  • Must have experience in test automation framework development
  • Must have experience in test automation development for Network equipment (switches/routers)
  • Must have experience of automation implementation of Network Simulator/Analyzers like Spirent/Ixia/Perf/Wireshark and etc.…
  • Strong analytical skills, creativity, and detail-oriented

Shipper & Receiver

Position Status: 6 Month Temporary Contract
Work Location: Mississauga, ON

Reporting To: Director of Operations

Job Responsibilities:

Shipping

  • Picking and packing orders based on customer orders;
  • Wrap, weigh and label shipments in compliance with customer requirements and transport regulations;
  • Inspects and verifies carton counts against packing slips or other documents for accuracy prior to shipping;
  • Coordinates carrier/freight forwarder pick up for orders and converse with drivers upon arrival;
  • Process courier shipments;
  • Knowledge of export documents for global shipping including packing list, commercial invoice, B13 form, NAFTA, etc.;
  • Perform other duties and tasks as required by the business.

Receiving

  • Data entry: receipts into ERP;
  • Inspects and verifies incoming shipments against packing slips or other documents;
  • Physical receipt of product from trucking companies and couriers;
  • Recording receipt number, filing receipts for audit purposes;
  • Accurate labelling and storing of product either to stock location or workbenches;
  • Perform other duties and tasks as required by the business.

Position Requirements:

  • 3 years’ work experience in Shipping and Receiving role preferred.
  • Knowledge in international shipment documents an asset;
  • Must be able to work a shift of 8:00am to 4:30pm;
  • Pays attention to details with strong multitasking skills;
  • Ability to work quickly to meet the deadline dates;
  • Must be able to lift up to forty pounds (40lbs) of product and boxes;

Manufacturing Assembler

Position Status: 6-Month Temporary Contract

Work location: Mississauga, Ontario

Reporting To: Director of Operations

Job Responsibilities:

  • Preform both electronic and mechanical assembly of various ethernet switch products;
  • Perform inspection of assembled boards;
  • Responsible for kitting material as per work orders;
  • Solder through hole and surface mount components on printed circuit boards;
  • Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct;
  • From time to time will be involved with manufacturing technician work. Including but not limited to:
    • Following test procedures to perform manufacturing test in an efficient manner;
    • Perform Go/No-go function test and environmental stress screening of ethernet switches.
    • Debug faulty ethernet switches (involving disassembly and reassembly);
  • Other duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Position Requirements:

  • College diploma in electronics or specialized training;
  • Experience with Tera Term or PuTTY;
  • Basic knowledge of Ethernet networks;
  • Able to accurately follow test procedures;
  • Troubleshooting to the PCBA level;
