Field Application Engineer

What you’ll be doing:

As a field application engineer you will be part of an exciting pre-sales technical team in our rapidly growing business. Your skills and background in networking technologies will be essential in supporting our international sales team in qualifying technical solutions using the iS5 Communications product range to ensure we deliver timely and accurate information to our customers. As a customer facing role, your ability to confidently present a solution and interact positively to customer requirements will be essential.

Our core markets include Power Utilities, Transportation, Oil/Gas, and Defense. We welcome you to the exciting world of Industrial Ethernet where your detailed knowledge in Ethernet networking technologies will form the foundation of a unique world beyond enterprise networking. This will include developing solutions with technologies such as serial to ethernet conversion, layer 2 and layer 3 redundant networking principles, cellular WAN gateways, HSR/PRP redundancy, precision time protocols, and more. You will also be working with our next generation platform that will provide a new perspective to unified cyber security solutions for the industry. In the solutions team your daily routine at iS5Com is likely to include but not limited to:

  • Coordinating with the sales and technical support teams to develop robust solutions, and formulating the product specification as per the customer’s needs
  • Evaluating the customer’s requirement regarding systems application and administering the technical, technological, and functional aspects of proposals accordingly as instructed by the regional sales managers
  • Providing network solutions presentations to customers
  • Providing limited product training
  • Contributing and validating advanced cyber security designs in collaboration with support, QA, and engineering resources within the company
  • Collaborating with marketing regarding your customer experiences to assist with research and development

Position Requirements:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Networking, Telecommunications.
  • Experience or an understanding of Industrial Networks and protocols in SCADA or industrial automation environments would be advantageous
  • 5+ years of practical experience with strong knowledge of L2/L3 protocols—OSPF, BGP, MPLS, RSTP, TCP/IP, RADIUS/TACACS, IPV6, SNMP, and NMS
  • Good to strong understanding of networking cyber security principles (i.e. firewalls, VPN’s, authentication techniques, encryption, etc)
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, ability to implement quick workarounds to technical problems
  • Understanding of serial technologies such as DNP/Modbus – RS232/RS422/RS485 would be a plus
  • Industry Certifications: CCNP, JNCP, CCSA, CISSP, or similar would be highly valued

Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibilities of the role will be but not limited to:
  • Develop Cybersecurity concepts for securing ICS and OT environments.
  • Assist customers in designing secure networking solutions based on iS5 products.
  • Identify important trends in ICS security. Help specify future product features to address these.
  • Work with software partners to develop high value applications for our target verticals.
  • Establish Cybersecurity policies and procedures tailored to OT environments.
  • Support in IT / OT convergence projects, guided and enabled by senior specialists.
  • Perform Cybersecurity assessments in industrial automation & control systems (IACS).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the computer science / engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in such industries as ICS or OT, etc.
  • Several years of successful experience in cybersecurity consulting in an ICS environment, e.g., assessments, gap analysis and mitigation planning.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS) and automation and/or process knowledge in OT environments, incl. relevant standards and security frameworks, e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, ISO 27001, NIST CSF
  • Experience in an international environment is helpful to collaborate with an international security team of specialists to satisfy customer demands
  • Strong customer orientation and ability to lead a diverse set of partners in a sophisticated, international environment.
  • Several years of proven project management experience, preferably in the area of OT Security ramp-up projects.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Initiative, creativity, analytical skills, critical thinking, and strong collaboration in international and virtual teams.
  • Proficient in English.

Manufacturing Assembler

  • Debug faulty ethernet switches (involving disassembly and reassembly);

Requirements:

  • College diploma in Electronics or similar specialized training;

Scheduler/Material Coordinator

  • Work with other departments to determine progress of work and completion dates.
  • Revise plans as required based on analysis of actuals versus plan.

  • Review and communicate production status reports.

Materials Coordinator:

  • Order packaging and other raw materials and ensure that all orders are recorded in our ERP and up to date.
  • Ensure that inventory of raw and packaging material is at the optimal level at all times.
  • Coordinate, book and manage delivery appointments for raw and packaging material deliveries.
  • Follow-up with suppliers on status of orders.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies for materials; by verifying goods received and comparing invoices to receipt.
  • Compile reports on costs and inventory levels.
  • Shared responsibility for Inventory Turns performance.
  • Any other duties as assigned by your leader or their designate.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Planning & Logistics or related program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment, materials and processes.
  • Strong Excel skills, including working knowledge of VLOOKUP and pivot tables is required.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite) an asset.
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques, and philosophies.
  • Flexible with an exceptionally high ability to prioritize tasks and daily work activities in a fast-paced environment.

With an initial team of 6-8 people, the focus of the innovation hub will be to develop new products and features and drive them to a proof-of-concept or minimal viable product stage.  If you are familiar with the McKinsey horizon model, we are focused on the horizon 3 side. Successful projects will be handed off to our core product team to finalize any further integrations into our core products.
